Privacy Statement

This section explains how the Cyber Security programme (previously known as the Cyber Security KTN), which is managed by PERA and QinetiQ for the Technology Strategy Board, uses information you give to us, and the ways in which the Technology Strategy Board and the programme management team protect your privacy (Data Protection Act, 1998).

What information do we collect? We collect several kinds of information from visitors to the Cyber Security KTN: registration, feedback, email enquiries, site usage information:

1. Registered users

If you register we record your personal details such as your name, organisation, professional and contact details. These will be available to other registered users of the Forum. They will not be transmitted to other parties and will be kept on secure computer systems. You have a right to access, amend or remove these details.

2. Feedback comments and questions

If you contact us by email we will only use this information to respond to your input. If you post information or comment to the site it will be visible to some or all users.

3. Site usage information

a) Cookies

Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a website. The Cyber Security programme website uses cookies. However, they do not contain personal information about you, and do not hold any information about which sites you visited before the Cyber Security KTN. We do not permit third party cookies.

b) Log files

Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. The Cyber Security programme puts together aggregated log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make improvements to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information.

c) Web beacons

Cyber Security programme Web pages may contain electronic images known as Web beacons - sometimes called single-pixel gifs - that may be used to assist in delivering cookies on our sites and allow us to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. We may include Web beacons in our messages and newsletters in order to determine whether registered users have opened and acted upon these messages. They also track messages which are delayed, redirected or undelivered.

What happens when I link to another site?

The Cyber Security programme website contains links to external websites - those of other government departments and other organisations. The privacy policy applies only to the GlobalWatchOnline.com website, which is managed by PERA on behalf of the Technology Strategy Board, so you should always read the privacy statement of the site you are moving to. If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures that you are always aware of what information is collected, how it is used and under what circumstances, it would be shared with other parties.
